1954 World Cup - Switzerland
After Hungary's magnificent triumph in the 1952 Olympics and the world famous 6-3 victory over England in Wembley in 1953, Puskas' World Cup debut was eagerly anticipated.scoring twice in against South Korea in a 9-0 thrashing of the Asian side. In their first meeting of West Germany, Hungary won again. 8-3 this time. Puskas was injured by German man-marker Liebrich. It was only the second game of the tournament and he was sidelined until the final match, this time against the West Germany. Puskas scored the opening goal only 6 minutes after the kick-off and Czibor scored the second two minutes later. But as the match developed, Puskas' lack of fitness and his teammates' fatigue from the earlier matches clearly showed. The Germans foughtback to make it 3-2.

this famous player made his second World Cup appearance, astonishingly, for Spain.Puskas created the opening goal for his newly adopted country. But Brazil scored two late goals from Amarildo, Pele's replacement.
